A
special design was needed for this custom rustic exterior mahogany
doors.
After making changes to the foyer size when building the
home, the original door and two sidelights caused the
door to hit the stairway. An oversized sidelight moved the door, allowing the door to swing freely and clear
the stairs. A custom rustic door style in mahogany with
ironwork accents complimented this country home. The
owner's love of roses was incorporated in the ironwork
design in both the speakeasy grill and sidelight grill.
No ironwork was applied to the interior of the door to blend
with the traditional decorating in the entry. A
speakeasy was designed at a lower height to allow all
members of the family to see out it's window. Glass
behind the ironwork in the sidelight was heavily textured
clear glass to allow light to flood the foyer while
providing complete privacy. Traditional mahogany stain
and multiple coats of premium polyurethane added to the
richness and beauty of the wood. Rustic door hardware
completed the look.
